Local Produce Picking: Pick Your Own.org

Going out to local pick-your-own produce farms makes for a fun way to get outdoors while gathering fresh, locally grown produce. I’m always looking for new places and recently came across an excellent website called Pick Your Own.org that lists produce picking farms by location. Under Washington State/Seattle area (King, Kitsap, Snohomish and Island Counties) I found a long list of places selling a whole host of items including blueberries, pumpkins, gourds, corn, apples, flowers, Asian pears, filberts, strawberries, raspberries, lavender and all kinds of vegetables. The site also includes “picking tips” with a calendar of when things are in season and ideas for what to do with the produce once you’ve picked it including canning, pickling, drying and cooking. Fun stuff!
